Why thank you for the compliment: that you think my outfits are “The bomb” (great phrase) and that you like seeing me wearing them is most pleasing. Glad you think I’ve managed not to look like mutton dressed as lamb

The constant in life that is Marks and Spencer. Or "Markies", as it's known in the north east of Scotland. In my childhood we would have a day in Aberdeen every Easter holiday, the highlight of which was the visit to Markies. That was when the clothes were all displayed packaged flat in cellophane, with one example of each garment on a hanger so that you could get an idea of it without unwrapping a packaged item.

Later, as a student in Paris in the 1980s, going to M&S and buying something with a traveller's cheque, then immediately taking it back, was the only way to get cash on a Saturday when the banks were closed. The time before ATMs.

And recently, after mourning getting rid (as I thought) of a short, boxy electric blue mock boiled wool jacket (sounds ghastly, but trust me, it was "the bomb"), I unearthed it after 30 years during a house move. Only problem is that back then I thought I was a size 14, when I'm actually a 10/12. Cue alteration that will cost many times the original.

I love this post. All three of those outfits are the bomb. Love the orange one.. You'd look right at home in New York city in that puffer. And I love seeing YOU!
